ABOUT ME

Kathy Smith Headshot 2.jpg

Kathy Smith is a half-hour comedy writer who hails from Belleville, Illinois—a Midwestern town filled with German heritage and where Jelly Belly was born.

As a former advertising executive, she helped launch Healthy Choice’s rebranding campaign and wrote creative copy for the back of a Reddi Wip can. In 2014, Kathy moved to Los Angeles to pursue her passions for television and put her real-life workplace drama all on-screen. She’s been hailed by the Belleville News Democrat as the ‘Taylor Swift of half-hour comedy writing,' along with placing in Final Draft’s Big Break Screenwriting Competition. As an adult, she's lived in four different U.S. regions, arming her with a bevy of unique stories that would be an asset to any writer's room—including stumbling into a secret Italian mafia bar while living in New York City, and being proposed to by a stranger at 7-Eleven.
